Listen Up

Hey people. Today's post is a rant, but also I feel that there is good info too. So get your pen and paper ready because I have a lesson to teach.

Have you ever been really sick and all of the sudden you need to sneeze? Well it happens to all of us. What do you do when there is not enough time to grab a tissue or excuse yourself from surrounding people? You use the crease of your elbow or if you absolutely can't hold it, inside of your shirt. Well I am here to tell you that not everyone knows these tricks that we do.

Yesterday I was shopping at my local Target as one does, and believe me you... a man sneezed next to me and his snot went on my arm! Oh yes... Oh Yes! Well let me tell you after a few choice words and looks of disgust I ran to the cleaning isle and opened a box of Clorox wipes and went to town scrubbing my arm.

Flashforward an entire box of wipes later... God started talking to me or all those hours of counseling started paying off and I realized something that never clicked in my head.

Cleanliness is in the eyes of the beholder.

Oh my gosh! REVOLUTIONARY! All this time I thought that you were either a clean person or you weren't. But that isn't the case. Some situations like houses, dorm rooms, cars, etc. make me crawl with anxiety over the clutter and mess. But maybe, just maybe, those people view their situation as tidy. Maybe I have Martha Stewart eyes and want everything to be perfect and like a magazine, but it is interesting to think that what you might see with your eyes is not the same as what someone else sees when they are looking at the exact same thing.

I guess my moral of this story is that you need to learn the sneeze tricks (DUH!) and also when judging a situation, take a step back and change your perspective. No one is ever perfect or right. We are all humans and we all have our own set of ideas that make us special.
